Pat McGaughey Master Your Business Game

Ever notice that selling is like putting? We just don’t close as many as we’d like to.  So what do we do to make more sales? The same thing we do to make more putts, we practice more.  Great golf, like great sales requires commitment to both games and it all begins with increasing our knowledge in both arenas.

What’s fascinating is that we know all of the answers but we never share them.  If you are a successful dealer, you should be a successful golfer using your business skills instead of your golfing skills. Learning to transfer your business acumen to your golf game will make a difference. On the other hand, if you are more proficient at golf than business, it’s time to transfer your golfing insights back to your desk at the dealership.

Master Your Business Game is a conference seminar offering 18 golf lessons designed to inspire your business game and 18 business lessons to impact your golf game.  The lessons, the metaphors and the strategies offered will articulate the answers you have been searching for in both games.

One attendee told us that he “swayed” back and forth in his golf swing until he heard me say it was an unethical swing. His golfing partners told him for years that he was swaying but until he learned it was unethical, he didn’t listen. Following the seminar at the conference tournament, he beat his best score by eight strokes in that first game. He later told me that ethics was the cornerstone of his business career and once I should him how “unethical” it was to sway, he had to stop immediately.

How we approach a golf ball buried in a sand trap will reflect how we approach an employee who has made a mistake and how we prefer our favorite clubs over others will help us identify similar biases we have with our products, our employees and our customers. It’s a bonus seminar the night before the FWEDA golf tournament that will add value to both your golf game and your business game back at the dealership.

This Bonus Education Session is included with your FWEDA conference registration beginning with a social at 6:30 p.m. in the main conference room and the seminar “Teeing off” at 7 p.m. Tuesday,  Nov. 13 in Palm Springs.
