Diesel Machinery in California Field

California Gov. Gavin Newsome’s 2019-2020 initial budget drastically reduced funding from $132 million to just $25 million for Agricultural Diesel Engine Replacement and Upgrades. In May he upped it to $90 million, still well below levels needed to meet California’s emission reduction goals. FWEDA joined the Ag Presidents Council in requesting funding for this program be increased to at least $250 million, which is consistent with the the last two budgets and with what CARB has identified as a necessary resource to achieve the state’s air quality targets.
